Fruiting body or mycelium: what’s the difference?

The mushroom we see, with its cap or distinctive shape, is the fruiting body. The mycelium is the network of filaments that grows in wood or soil.

In the supplements industry, mycelium is often grown on grains (rice, oats) and harvested with its substrate, which can add a significant amount of starch to the final product. That’s why we chose to use only the fruiting body, and why every batch is tested.
